| San Juan Islands paddling in wind on the last two days of the Five-day Training Camp |
If you are coming from out of town or want to quickly learn all you
can, then our Five-Day Training Camp is the ticket. Training Camps are
offered during the week only (Monday - Friday), but a similar, albeit condensed,
four day experience is available by taking a pair of weekend lessons with us.
If you took our two-day Paddling Strokes & Rescue Techniques
course and combined it with our overnight
Open Water Training Camp course (in the San Juan Islands)
and added one more day in the middle for paddle
stroke review/refinement with videotape playback analysis/coaching of each
student, extra roll practice (get your 1st roll or add an off-side roll),
you would get our Five-Day Training Camp.
Please follow the above course links if you haven't already read the
referenced course descriptions (I'm trying to save you from having to
read the same information twice).
Note last year over 92% of the students that completed this course learned to Eskimo roll -- in sea kayaks (not river kayaks), and almost all students succeeded in rolling with the help of a paddle float as a training aid.
"I was amazed at how much I learned that week. I really enjoyed the overnight camping trip and the eddy line crossings en route. I'm recommending your course to every sea kayaker I know." B.N. Seattle, WA
"I want to thank you for the great class. You covered an amazing amount of material, and it was all good stuff. Camping out on the island was beautiful, exactly what I want to do with my kayak. The technique practice definitely filled in my gaps, and I learned to roll! I'm going out today to practice some more." B.M. Freemont, CA
