Polypro Tops and Bottoms
Polypro is the old standard of synthetic outdoor wear -- aka Polypropylene. There was a time when newer synthetic fabrics seemed to make polypro obsolete, but the better made polypro is now much softer and more oder resistant than it used to be. And polypro is still considered the best synthetic clothing fabric insulator when wet. This makes polypro especially well suited for water sports like kayaking. Polypro also has a lot of enherent stretch to it without having to add spandex (rubber); so polypro never gives you that cold feeling against your skin that many of the newer fabrics do. Unless they are really baggy, long underwear bottoms need a lot of strecth in order to be comfortable for sitting (i.e. kayaking). So of all the lighter weight materials on the market, we still find polypro to be the most comfortable of all for light weight long jons. When it comes to getting the most bang for your buck, you can't beat polypro. These lightweight stretchy tops and bottoms will take years of heavy use. In fact polypro's durability may be it's worst assset. If you've got ten year old polypro that you can't get the odor out of, maybe it's time to replace it. These polypro tops and bottoms make great base layers to wear under heavier tops, or wear them all by themselves in warm weather.
