Sea Kayak 103 - First Journey & Forward Stroke Development, On Flat Water (Lake Sammamish)
Ready for your maiden voyage? This Forward Stroke - Adventurous Journey across the Lake is designed as the perfect next step after taking our SK 101 class. You'll get some easy miles under your belt while you continue learning to keep your kayak going straight and review other skills learned in the SK 101 class. We'll introduce you to some basic concepts of kayak navigation and give you coaching that will improve your forward stroke speed and efficeincy. This trip prepares you for longer and more adventurous journeys in the future.
We teach both feathered and unfeathered paddling technique, and let you decide which you prefer. We'll teach you how to adjust your kayak's fit so it is optimized for efficient forward stroke performance, and we'll show you how to choose a paddle that is the best length and style for the type of kayak you own (or plan to buy) and the kind of paddling you want to do.
