Shipping Policy
We offer three shipping methods for orders shipped within the 48 contiguous US States: Priority Mail, UPS Ground, UPS 3-Day Select. (For Alaska and Hawaii we ship via Priority Mail only). On-line orders over $100.00 get free Priority Mail or UPS Ground shipping, and there's no sales tax on orders shipped outside of Washington State. We are located on the West Coast of US. If your order is being shipped to the East Coast or Mid-West, Priority Mail is faster than UPS Ground, and Mail is delivered on Saturdays. However, for orders much over $100 we recommend UPS due to better tracking and delivery options. If you need faster shipping than Priority Mail or UPS 3-Day Select, call us, we offer UPS 2-Day and Next Day shipping options via. phone orders. Orders that are in-stock typically ship out the next business day (M-F); however, if we receive your order before our daily shipping has been picked up (which means M-F for UPS), we will do our best to get your order out the same day. Note the number of shipping days quoted by UPS and the Postal Service starts the day after it is picked up and doesn't count weekends or holidays. So an order placed on Friday afternoon and shipped via UPS will be shipped out Monday, and if shipped UPS Ground to the East Coast of the US it will arrive a 1 1/2 weeks later on Tuesday (11 calendar days after the day you placed the order). The same order would arrive the next Thursday if UPS 3-Day Select is chosen (it gets picked up on Monday which doesn't count, and Tues - Thurs. makes three days which is the meaning of "3-Day" shipping - even though that is six calendar days after the day you placed the order). If you reside outside of the United States, we ship international orders via the Postal Service only and the biggest delay is usually your country's customs department which we have no control over and the delay is highly variable from one shipment to the next. Note, we do not ship kayaks.
Shipping Rates for US orders (for non-sale, new retail items):
USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground:
Order Sub-Total less than $35.00, Shipping and Handling Charges = $4.95 Priority Mail or $7.50 UPS Ground
Order Sub-Total $35.01 to $100.00, Shipping and Handling Charges = $10.50 Priority Mail or $9.50 UPS Ground
Order Sub-Total over $100.00 = FREE shipping (USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground)
(Free shipping does not apply to kayaks, rentals, used equipment, close-outs, sale items, or international orders)
UPS 3-Day Select shipping is $15.00 extra (i.e. for over $100.00 in products, 3-Day Select shipping = $15.00)
Privacy Policy
We do not share our customer mailing list with anyone. We delete credit card information after the transaction is complete. We keep contact information on our customers for several reasons:
- To send your shipment tracking number via email.
- So we can contact you if there is a shipping problem or if there is ever a product recall.
- In order to track purchase in case of warranty returns.
- So we can contact you about store specials or upcoming events (you can opt-out at any time by sending us an e-mail).
- Keeping information allows us track the performance of our store and make changes when needed.
Return and Exchange Policy
Please carefully read the return and exchange policies for new regular price items, new sale items, used dry suits and all other used gear.
New regular priced items you have purchased from the Kayak Academy may be returned for credit or refund within 30 days from the date your order was shipped. Please examine the contents in your package and confirm it matches your order. Contact us immediately if there are any discrepancies.
New sale priced items may be returned within 30 days from the date of shipment for store credit only.
Used items, with the exception of dry suits - sales are final.
Used dry suits may be returned within 10 days from the date of shipment for a full refund. After 5 days all sales are final.
Returns instructions are listed below and the return address can be found at the top of your invoice.
Whether you made your purchase online, by phone, by mail or at Kayak Academy’s shop, returnable items may returned or exchanged by in person at our Kayak Shop or return shipped to us at your expense.
To make a return or exchange (Tip: Copy the following and paste it into your email or note):
- Please include a copy of your receipt or invoice or enclose a note. Be sure to include the following information:
- Name (and name of purchaser if item was a gift)
- Address
- Phone number
- E-mail address
- Date
- Reason for the return
- Purchase price of the item(s)
- Please specify whether you would like an exchange, store credit, or a refund.
- Please launder or clean any used merchandise before returning it.
- You may send return via: UPS, USPS or FedEx
- Insure the package for your protection.
- Sending dark chocolate with returns expedites the processing ;-)
