3rd Anual Nisqually River Cleanup - April 4, 2020
This is a great float along a lowland river that has not been extensively developed. Wildlife and birds can be seen along the river.
This year, we are hoping to expand the cleanup of the river as it flows through the Billy Frank Jr, Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge via sea kayaks and canoes. Above is the whitewater section we've been cleaning where most of the rapids are Class II, with several boulder gardens that make for good training such as practicing eddy turns.
The Paddle Trail Canoe Club will be leading a trip on the lower segment of the river. We also will have volunteers from the Nisqually Reach Nature Center who will assist canoeists and sea kayakers in hauling whatever they collect to the Luhr's Landing WDFW Water Access boat ramp.
Volunteers are asked to register not only with their club but also on the Eventbrite Registration page which can be accessed by clicking here.
As in years past, we will be hosting an after Event BBQ at McKenna Park. If you'd like to attend, please register and tell us you will be joining us for the BBQ.
