SeaLect Designs Standard Black Foot Braces are the strongest plastic foot braces. They have a large comfortable, ergonomic, stiff, foot pedal that is easy to adjust while sitting in the kayak.

These are a great upgrade for P&H Kayaks - they look almost the same but without the wimpy adjustment rod and friction that makes them hard to adjust; upgrading is as simple as unbolting the original foot braces and bolting in the new ones (almost, see notes below). Also great for building kit kayaks and replacing broken foot braces in any rudder-free kayak. 14.5" on center hole pattern is the same as most standard foot braces. The foot pad has 10" of adjustable travel.

Note the locking twist handle does not move the foot peddle as in P&H foot brace. Turn the knob to horizontal to unlock the pedal adjustment then use your toes or hand to move the pedal where you want it and twist the handle to the down, vertical position to lock it there.

These are original equipment in Sterling Kayaks and Eddyline Kayaks.

Recommend either taping or hot-gluing end clamp pieces to the track to make it easier to install. Use #3 Philips screwdriver.

If replacing foot braces in a P&H roto-molded PE kayak: You'll need a 4mm Allen wrench to remove the original foot-braces and a #3 Philips screwdriver to install the Sea-lect Designs foot braces. The holes in the Sea-Lect Design foot-braces are slightly wider apart that the original P&H foot-braces. Use a 3/16" round file or work a 1/4" drill bit to slightly oval the aft mounting hole in your kayak so you can get the mounting screw started. Also the triple layer CoreLite and CoreLite X construction is too thick for the length of the screws that come with the Sea-Lect foot-braces (and the screws from the P&H foot-braces are metric so don't try to use them). You'll need: four Stainless Steel Truss Head 1/4" x 20 x 1.5" Machine Screws.

If replacing foot braces in a P&H composite kayak with glassed in studs (no holes in boat): You'll need an 8mm socket and ratchet to remove the original mounting nuts. Remove the screws and nuts from the Sea-Lect Design foot-braces.  Use a 3/16" round file or work a 1/4" drill bit to slightly oval the mounting holes in foot-braces so you can get the mounting studs to slide into the foot-braces. Than add Stainless Steel #12 Flat Washer and reuse the original P&H M4 nuts.
