Brief Description

As of 2023 the Youth SuperNova Semi-Dry Suits are built with the same 3.0 Layer Hydrus Fabric as all of Kokatat's adult Hydrus dry suits. The three-layer fabric is more durable and nicer overall, than the 2.5 Layer Hydrus fabric which had been the standard for SuperNova suits for over a decade.

Kokatat Youth SuperNova Semi-Dry Suit would be a drysuit except the neck of the Youth Super Nova suit is a neoprene "Neo Cinch Collar". The Neo Cinch neck doesn't seal as well as a drysuit with a latex neck gasket, but the Neo Cinch neck is easier to pull on and off and it's more comfortable to wear than a rubber neck gasket. As long as you aren't practicing multiple rolls in a kayak or going for a long swim off shore, the Neo Cinch neck may be good enough for your paddling needs (rec kayaking, river canoeing, frostbite sailing, etc.). In other words, you will get several spoons full of water down the neck each time your head and/or neck go under water, but from the neck down the SuperNova Paddling Suit is the same as a dry suit.

Detailed Description

The Kokatat Youth SuperNova Semi Dry Suit is made of a waterproof/breathable 3-layer fabric called Hydrus 3.0.

The Youth SuperNova Semi Drysuit comes standard with latex wrist gaskets with adjustable neoprene over-cuffs at the wrists and ankles (that cover the top of your booties to keep gravel out), waterproof breathable Dry-Socks made of 3-layer Hydrus 3.0 fabric, and a front entry water-sports nylon zipper that runs diagonally across the chest of the suit making it easy to get in and out of (as opposed to dry suits with rear entry shoulder zippers that require teamwork to get in and out of without breaking the zipper).

The chest is measured around the fullest part of your chest. Stand relaxed and breath normally while taking this measurement.

Based on the user's height and weight, we need more information to guarantee proper drysuit fit. Please use a cloth tape measure or a long string and ruler to collect the following measurements.

This is measured around the widest portion of lower torso, found between where you would wear a belt and your sternum.

The user's shoe size might be too big/small for the standard dry sock on this dry suit. Note for some suit sizes we offer a choice of sock size in the menu above.

If you are interested in purchasing a suit with a different size sock, or have any sizing questions, please give us a call.

This is the larger measurement between where a belt would rest and your natural waist (natural waist is where the narrowest part is, above the hip, and where your torso bends when bending sideways)

Take this measurement from the side to ensure the correct placement of the tape. Place the tape around the hips and across the widest part of the buttocks. Make sure that all pockets are empty.

The sleeve is measured as follows: Hold arm directly out to the side, parallel to the floor, palm down. Bend the elbow forward, stop hand in front of nose. Place the cloth measureing tape at the base of the neck, starting at the spine. Make sure that the start of the tape is at the same height as the elbow. Run tape along the arm, turn at the elbow, measuring to the wrist bone.

The inseam is measured from crotch to ankle bone. DO NOT USE YOUR PANT INSEAM! That is too long of a measurement.
