Yakima Cross-Bar Pair. If your vehicle has a highly curved roof such as on a Beetle, round cross-bars are best because they allow you to roll your rack attachments to whatever angle is needed. For kayakers, this is important in order to maximize flat surface contact of the cradles against your kayak. If your vehicle has a straight roof-line, then we recommend rectangular or oval cross-bars because kayak cradles have the annoying tendency to rotate on round cross-bars when you shove your kayak fore and aft to center it.
