NRS pump's 21" length is good for most medium to high-volume sea kayaks in order for the spout to reach over the top of the cockpit coaming rim. The spout to the base is 17". The referenced length is the total length to the end of the handle. 

The end caps on the NRS bilge pump an be easily disassembled to clean out rocks etc. that cause other pumps to fail. All screws are stainless steel. The yellow full-length float makes the NRS pump quite visible. These features combine to make this pump one of the most reliable bilge pump available.
